Sennheiser, one of the most respected brands in the audio equipment market, has just issued a warning for its customers that advices them to pay a close attention to the Sennheiser products they buy as counterfeit headphones have started to make their appearance in both Europe and the US.
Lately, the audio equipment manufacturer has seen an increase in the number of complaints and warranty returns registered by their products, as pirated merchandise started to make its way into the market.
Most of the users affected by these issues have bought their
headphones from websites based in China, but these have now also started to arrive in other parts of the world due to a Chinese wholesaler who deals in counterfeit products.
So far, the knockoffs of choice seem to be the CX200, CX300 II, CX380 II, CX500 and PMX80 headphones, but other models and product ranges may also be targeted by pirates.
Sennheiser has already filed a wave of federal lawsuits in the United States District Court for the Central District of California against a number of Internet based pirates and counterfeiters located throughout the United States and engaged in the sale of the headphones mentioned above.
"Sennheiser will vigorously defend the Sennheiser brand name, representing premium quality and performance, by taking action against counterfeiters and ensuring our customers know how to avoid purchasing counterfeit products," said John Falcone, President/CEO of Sennheiser Electronic Corporation.
"Customers are urged to purchase only from authorized Sennheiser dealers," concluded the company's rep.
A complete list of authorized Sennheiser dealers from the US is available right on the company's website (link
