The Chromebook is based on Intel’s reference design for education

As an apparent response to the deluge of cheap Windows 8.1 with Bing laptops, Google and its partners are also introducing new Chromebook models at the speed of light.

This time we’re going to be telling you about a product coming from a relatively unknown device manufacturer.

Most of you haven’t probably heard of Senkatel, but they exist and have just announced a new Chromebook which is based on Intel’s reference design for the educational sector.

Unlike other Chromebooks on the market, it will be a little bit more expensive than the norm and will start shipping from $314 / €235.

Senkatel is actually a company specialized in the production of hardware and software solutions for the enterprise and educational sector, so a Chromebook is right on their alley.

The C1101 Chromebook will follow the same outlines as the CTL Educational Chromebook we talked about not so long ago.

The Chromebook offers the usual standard in the display department, meaning it arrives with an 11.6-inch TFT IPS LCD screen with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

What’s special about the C1101 is that the Bay Trail chip sustaining life on the laptop will supposedly be fanless and able to offer quite an excellent battery life, going as far as 11 hours on a single charge. The CPU is actually an Intel Celeron N2830 chip clocked at 2.16GHz fitted with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage.

Like with all Chromebooks, customers will be awarded 100GB of free storage on Google Drive for the first two years of use.

Like the Intel reference design which the laptop is built upon, the Chromebook retains the 180° rotatable camera to which you can attach a 30x lens that will turn the device in some sort of “microscope” for children.

Because the Chromebook is destined to be handled mostly by children, Senkatel has made the device semi-rugged, meaning its keyboard is spill resistant and capable of “fighting” water infiltration.

In terms of connectivity, the Senkatel C1101 takes advantage of two USB ports (one 3.0), HDMI out, Wi-Fi 802.11 and Bluetooth 4.0.

As mentioned above, the price is a little bit higher than what’s being offered on the market.

You might be better off checking Amazon, because a Back to School promotion for Chromebooks is currently under way and you can even pick up the HP Chomebook 11 for only $199 / €149.
