Steve Parker, who has been working as a senior producer on the Diablo III project, has announced via Twitter that he is no longer working at Blizzard and that he was already getting ready to work on a new project, although he did not mention exactly what it was.

His message says, “Hey Twitter, I’m no longer working at Blizzard or on D3. I’ve had a great 5 years there and those guys are going to do an amazing job with Diablo” and it adds he is, “looking forward to bigger and better things”.

Parker says that he is on amiable terms with the Blizzard leadership and that the work he has put into Diablo III has been a pleasure.

The developer has already posted a job opening for a producer for the game.

It is not clear whether the resignation of Steve Parker, who had a prominent role in the development of Diablo III up until now, is linked to the important changes that Blizzard has announced are coming to the beta version of the game.

Last week Blizzard announced that it would revamp core features of the game, like the main characteristic of the player character, who are now reduced to just four, and the way the skill trees are linked to them.

The developers have also said that they are eliminating some of the options that gamers have when it comes to weapon customization and item salvaging while making it easier for gamers to reach the hub town of the game from anywhere in the world.

It seems that the changes will not be the last to come to the Diablo III beta and that players will have a chance to offer their feedback in the coming weeks.

Diablo III was widely thought to launch during the spring of this year but the recent changes might mean that the game will be delayed once again.

D3 now on vaporware watch, I would have to say.
Stripping out major items, producer leaving, this can't be good for getting this out in 2012 is my guess, I suspect a stall tactic maybe to allow console dev. to catch up?
I don't believe this game has been in dev. 10 years, that's far too long and this much drama is laughable.
But who knows, so many of us wanted this 2 years ago, I pre-ordered this in 2009!
I don't even expect it anymore to be a great game, the style seems already have been out there and what I read doesn't add much to just basically button mashing loot hunt.
The limited # of skills available on your quick bar? In D2 I mouse wheeled 12 or more if I recall.
Oh well, just angry at further delay and them not opening up the beta to more players, since it's so short like they did in D2.
