Auction back online, current bid $10K, three days left

The seller of the iPod shuffle signed by Steve Jobs has contacted us with clarification as to why his auction was pulled from eBay. The reason was: none.

“I am writing in regards to the orange/gold Steve Jobs signed iPod that had appeared on eBay a couple of weeks ago,” says Ian Macdonald.

“With well over 60 bids (some reports say the bids were around 70), eBay canceled the auction and all of the bids for no real reason. After reviewing the incident, ebay found that they were the ones at fault, and personally issued me, along with the bidders a (less than heartfelt) apology.”

That’s all fine except Ian was about to become $26,000 richer (perhaps more) had everything gone according to plan.

“The kicker is that all of the bid, which had reached $26k USD, had been erased. Now I’m back to square one.....not only was I not reimbursed the insertion fees, but I’m sure the sudden cancellation caused some bidders to have their doubt about me, which is unfortunate,” he explains.

Putting all this behind him, Ian decided to re-list the item with a starting bid considerably lower than what the highest bid was.

“Time will tell if the bidders will be as generous,” he says. “I was very much a fish out of water selling this....I had no idea it would be so valuable.”

Needless to point out, Ian is disappointed with eBay’s services, but his golden iPod is still valuable. There have been two bids so far, and the current one is US $10,096.00.

There are three days left. Think Ian will get his 26 grand back?
