On Friday, teen pop star Selena Gomez was rushed to the hospital for what the media dubbed a “mysterious” condition, which got worse over the weekend. Selena herself has explained her recent hospital visits in concert on Monday. As we also
informed you on Saturday, Selena was taken to the hospital shortly after a televised interview, after complaining of nausea and severe headache.
Doctors were reportedly puzzled by her illness, so they asked her to come back to the hospital over the weekend for more tests.
On Monday, Selena performed at the Santa Monica Place, an outdoor mall in LA where she was initially scheduled for an appearance on Friday, but which she had to cancel because she wasn’t feeling well.
Since everybody naturally asked her about her recent health issues, Selena made it a point to set fans and the media at ease regarding it, saying she was fine, but had been suffering from malnourishment and exhaustion,
People magazine reports.
As we
also noted the other day, this was just one of the many theories in circulation in the blogosphere about the singer’s health problems.
“I want to thank you so much for coming. If you guys came on Friday, I’m so sorry that I couldn’t be here. ... I love you guys very much,” Selena told the 500 fans who had come to see her perform live.
“I was just very malnourished, so I was low on iron and exhausted,” she mentioned to reporters after the show.
Apparently, the long weekend at the hospital had helped the 18-year-old pop star recover properly, because she seemed to be in top shape.
“Showing no signs of those health problems, an energetic Gomez performed ‘Who Says’ and ‘A Year Without Rain’ and bantered with the crowd, telling the fans, ‘I do feel better!’” People writes.
Presumably now that she’s out of the woods, Selena will be back to her previously set schedule, but official word on that is still pending.
