Unbeknown to many, Selena Gomez went quietly into rehab for a short period of time, to deal with some of the issues she'd been having with drugs and alcohol. Her rehab stint is said to have taken place in January.

There was a lot of speculation when Selena suddenly canceled on her Australian and Asian tour at the end of last year, citing “fatigue and personal reasons.”

Most people thought she just could not hack it with large venue events. Others said that it might be connected to her Lupus disease acting up, causing severe fatigue to the singer who thus had to put a stop to touring.

Now, Radar is saying that Selena actually had difficulties of a nature more common amongst celebrities her own age: drugs and booze. Selena is reported to have quietly slipped into rehab in January at an Arizona facility called Dawn as The Meadows.

This particular rehab facility specializes in helping patients between the ages of 18 to 26 deal with emotional trauma, addiction or dual diagnosis issues.

Her spokesperson has confirmed the news but added that the singer did not attend for issues involving substance abuse, “Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse.”

A source close to Selena says that she just wanted a time out after a long series of very hard parties that apparently took out a lot out of her.

Members of her family and some of her friends are said to have become worried about her state of health and asked her to take a time out, “It’s important to remember that Selena had worked in Hollywood non-stop for six years,” another source said. “She was exhausted. Selena was smart enough to understand that she needed to take control of her life.”

It's also been suggested that a key role in her suppose addiction was played by former boyfriend Justin Bieber, who is no stranger to drugs and alcohol himself. This is funny, because many people in Justin’s entourage claimed that Selena was the cause that Bieber was acting up.
