“Twilight” hottie Taylor Lautner and Disney superstar Selena Gomez have been repeatedly dubbed by the media the cutest couple to ever grace the pages of a glossy magazine. They even went through a reported breakup not long ago, but the truth of the matter is they were never dating to begin with, as Selena herself says in the latest issue of OK! Magazine.

As fans must know, the two allegedly started dating a while ago, but kept things hush-hush because it suited the career of neither to come out romantically involved. However, while Lautner was shooting for “New Moon” in Vancouver and Selena working on a film on her own also there, they were repeatedly spotted hanging out, holding hands and hugging in front of the paparazzi, which led to speculation that they had finally decided to go official with their romance. And then reports came about how they split.

From what Selena is saying, this never happened because there was no romance to speak of. “He’s one of my good friends. I’m single. Definitely single.” Selena says of dating the handsome and recently bulkier Taylor. However, even if she’s not dating Lautner, that is not to say Selena is in any way blind to the appeal “The Twilight Saga” has with the female segment of the audience. Of course, that also includes Pattinson, whom she finds completely adorable.

“[Twilight] was good. It was really good. I really liked it. I can totally see the Robert Pattinson thing now. That’s for sure.” Gomez says, as quoted by the same publication. While she’s not the only one to see why Pattinson is enjoying such unbelievably high levels of popularity, other female stars of almost her age simply don’t get it, like Disney IT princess Miley Cyrus and reality star Whitney Port, to name just two of all those who dared speak out against the man who’s slowly turning to be the icon of a generation.

Back to Taylor and Selena, several celebrity blogs and e-zines were saying a short while back that the actor had decided to call it quits on the relationship following pressure from his father and Summit Entertainment, the movie studio behind the “Twilight” hit franchise. Reports had it that he was advised against being in a relationship because that would not sit well with his female fans, who could no longer see him as The One, and he complied. If what Selena is saying right now is true, then the whole breaking up thing was just speculation, as also was talk of them being the cutest couple of the moment.
