Sega and Gearbox, the two companies behind the lackluster Aliens: Colonial Marines title, have just been hit with a class action lawsuit in California over falsely advertising the game.

Aliens: Colonial Marines caused a huge controversy when it came out back in February as, after promising that the title would deliver a great experience, the end result was a poor game filled with bugs that angered many players.

Sega has since apologized and admitted that promotional videos didn't reflect the game's actual quality.

Now, Polygon has revealed that both publisher Sega and developer Gearbox have been hit with a class action lawsuit in California.

The companies are charged with falsely advertising Aliens: Colonial Marines both through official videos, as well as through the demonstrations they organized at events like E3 or PAX.

As compensation, Sega and Gearbox are asked to refund those who pre-ordered or bought the game on its launch day.

As of yet, the companies haven't commented on this lawsuit.
