The PlayStation 3 version of Bayonetta really got shafted, especially compared with the Xbox 360 one. On Sony's console, the game suffered from a lot of issues, including choppy framerates, lesser graphics and, not to be cast aside, the prolonged loading times. As it has been mentioned by a dedicated fan of the game, it takes 25 seconds to load a level, ten seconds for the cutscene and another five for the menu. It may not sound like much, a few seconds, but consider that you do these a lot more often than just once during gameplay and it's going to prove very frustrating in no time at all.

Sega is aware of the problems the game suffers from, and it has already started fixing some of them. The loading time is the first issue to be addressed by Bayonetta's developers and a Sega representative posted on the official forum that, "I can, in fact, speak on [the developer's] behalf in saying that a patch to correct this issue is under consideration through development to address the matter of the overwhelming load times with Bayonetta."

Unfortunately, there's no time frame for the patch, so we'd be better off not holding our breaths for the problem to be solved. "Something I cannot address directly is when this will occur however I will be tracking this directly on all sides (the Japanese, North American, and European versions) as to ensure that we know exactly the status of each one." the Sega rep added, "Provided that I am given full disclosure on this, I will be sure to keep you posted on what to expect."

It is a first step taken concerning the problem, true, but these can't be something that they didn't know about before launching the game. These are pretty obvious drawbacks for the game that couldn't have been missed by either the developers or the guys over at quality assurance. Since the game has a better version for the Xbox 360, the lesser one for the PS3 doesn't hurt the developers' image as much as it affects how people look at Sony's console.
