Sega has confirmed that the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II downloadable title might be the last one in the episodic series, as it currently has no plans to work on a possible third installment.
Sonic 4: Episode I delivered a pretty impressive experience, taking older levels from previous games in the series and remastering them in high definition.
With Sonic 4: Episode II, Sega is bringing not just old levels but also Sonic’s sidekick Tails, as well as the old Metal Sonic villain.
Sadly, it seems that a third installment in the Sonic 4 episodic series might not appear, as a Sonic Team Producer Takasi Iizuka told Digital Spy that the team has “no plans” to continue working on a new episode.
The team is listening for feedback after the upcoming release of Episode II, so perhaps a solid response from fans and high sales figures could determine Sega to actually make a third installment.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II is out in May for platforms like the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, iOS or Android.
