Apparently
Sega has made more than just one announcement during the past three days. Just as I've finished writing about
Space Siege, their newly announced RPG title for the PC, I stumbled upon this press release saying that the much anticipated
Virtua Fighter 5 will feature online versus mode at the time of launch in Autumn this year.
As the official
report informs, the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 is based on the latest arcade version update and features both analogue-stick and D-pad control, as well as vibration support. The game also includes an improved Quest mode featuring more CPU rivals, items, and emblems for character customization.
Remember the DOJO mode? Well, this mode adds features including leaderboards, training move settings, improved throw and escape training, and the option to change your opponent's position and recovery type. Basically, the DOJO mode will help players improve their fighting strategy.
As for the most recently announced online two-player versus mode (via Xbox Live, of course), it will do nothing more, nothing less than allow players to compete online. Well, not exactly, players will also be able to select one of the 17 characters and customize them in Quest mode, as customization features allow players to modify their characters by selecting from four base costumes and then attaching a wide range of unlockable and earnable items. Competing for prizes and earning in-game money, allowing gamers to buy many items at an in-game shop, should also sound quite attractive I reckon.
"For a lot of very good reasons, Virtua Fighter 5 is regarded as the deepest and most revered fighting game available on next generation consoles", said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe. "Bringing Virtua Fighter 5 to the Xbox 360 will not only capture an entirely new audience, but will allow gamers to show their Virtua Fighter skills online against friends and foes".
Well, this is all on Virtua Fighter 5 for now, but keep in mind that the game will be released in Autumn, this year, for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PS3 (hopefully, it's still on for
Sony's PS3...). Oh, and do understand that this online VS mode is only for Xbox 360 users... for now at least.
