Update imminent, sources say

Last week, select Apple developers were handed a new test build of Mac OS X 10.6.3. Labeled 10D558, the software weighs in at 710.5MB and comes packed with a strikingly similar set of release notes compared to the build it super-seeds (10D552). The notes are now available, courtesy of World of Apple.

The site in question reported on February 19th that, “Apple [...] has released the next build of Mac OS X 10.6.3 to registered developers. The latest build [...] has been delivered in close proximity to the last build and the attached notes remain unchanged. Sources continue to insist to World of Apple that a release is imminent.”

Softpedia itself noted a while ago that all signs pointed to a release within a day’s time, yet developers were focused on testing the software still, as it was later shown. The situation hasn’t changed much, although the similarities between builds 10D552 and 10D558 of OS X 10.6.3 are indeed signaling an imminent release. The software is expected to launch publicly this week, but it doesn’t necessarily have to. As promised, readers can now have a look at the actual release notes that came with build 10D558.
