The developers at Firaxis have released three new screenshots for their newly announced XCOM: Enemy Unknown strategy game, showing off the tactical aspect of the game and a first look at how the player base might look.

The view for the tactical turn based battles seems to be very old school, almost isometric, although the units and enemies appear to be rendered in 3D.

The new UFO project from Firaxis is set to be a re-imagining of the original, with the player able to direct research, production and recruitment on the strategic level and then going toe to toe with the alien invaders in tactical engagements with destructible terrain.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is set to be released during the second half of this year, on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, while the original XCOM shooter project from 2K Marin and Take Two will arrive during March, barring any delay.
