Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has held an event dedicated to the upcoming launch of The Last of Us Remastered for the PlayStation 4, and the slides showcasing the improvements from the PS3 version of the action adventure title made their way to the Internet.

MeriStation editor Javi Andres was kind enough to tweet the slides containing the full list of improvements in the upcoming remastered edition of the acclaimed narrative-driven game, revealing what the main selling points of the title are. That is, unless you never played it in the first place, in which case the entire game itself, with all its accolades and endless fan praise, is reason enough.

The slides show list that the PlayStation 4 remastered version of The Last of Us runs at 1080p at 60 frames per second in both single-player and multiplayer, and that its texture maps have been upped to 4 times their initial level of detail, while the shadow maps are only twice as detailed.

In addition to better textures, the upcoming remaster also sports higher resolution particle effects and occlusion mapping on decals, longer draw distances, better LOD, no texture streaming, and expanded audio menu options.

Players also have the option to lock the frame rate at 30 frames per second, as well as to swap trigger and thumbsticks controls, and the PS4's DualShock 4 controller is fully supported, including its touch pad, light bar and speaker.

Furthermore, gamers willing to purchase The Last of Us Remastered will also get their hands on some cinematics with commentary by Neil Druckmann, the game's creative director, as well as from Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, the talented actors who helped Joel and Ellie come to life through their motion capture and voice acting performances.

In addition to the information related to The Last of Us Remastered, Naughty Dog also announced that more content add-ons are planned for 2014, and that all of them will be cross-buy enabled between the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of the title.

The Last of Us is a third-person action adventure game that takes place after an outbreak of a deadly mutant fungus brings about some pretty apocalyptic events. The fungus transforms its human hosts into cannibalistic monsters, and the few remaining uninfected humans struggle for survival in the remnants of the once civilized United States, and an unexpected hope for a cure arises.

The Last of Us Remastered is scheduled for release on July 29, 2014, exclusively for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system. The PlayStation 3 edition of the game has so far sold over 7 million copies worldwide.
