Security Vulnerability in HTC Android Phones Exposes User Data

Owners of an HTC mobile phone running under Google's Android operating system might have their personal data exposed to applications that enjoy Internet access, a recent report explains.

Apparently, a new update from the handset vendor included a series of tools that collect data such as email addresses, recent GPS locations, SMS data, phone numbers, system logs, and more.

HTC takes our customers' security very seriously, and we are working to investigate this claim as quickly as possible. We will provide an update as soon as we're able to determine the accuracy of the claim and what steps, if any, need to be taken.
