Microsoft has announced that Office for Mac security updates will be made available by the end of this week. The past week, the Redmond Company has accidentally posted pre-release security updates for Office for Mac. Then and later Microsoft has apologized for the confusion it has created for its customers.

The accidental posting of the pre-release security updates for Office for Mac, has been blamed on a human error. "We wanted to follow up with Office for Mac users on what to do if you installed the pre-release security updates released on Tuesday. Because the Office for Mac update that was erroneously released had additional, non-security fixes, the Office for Mac team would like to distribute a new update to its customers that includes all the fixes unrelated to security. We are planning to release the new update by the end of next week," revealed Microsoft Security Response Center team.

"Unfortunately, there's no easy way to uninstall it without going back to the original Office CD and doing a clean install followed by applying the latest full updater," stated Erik Schwiebert, a Microsoft developer. "That's a really poor user experience."

Microsoft additionally informed that the patches that will be released this week will uninstall the pre-release versions. "Customers who downloaded the pre-release security update for Office for Mac on Tuesday should install this new update when it is released. This new update will remove the pre-release version and install the fully tested application fixes; we suggest that all Office for Mac users download the new update," added the MSRC team.
