The latest update for Flash Player does away with some security flaws that could have been exploited by an attacker to gain control over a system.

Earlier versions of Flash Player for all supported platforms are affected, thus Adobe recommends the transition to build 11.7.700.224 for Windows, 11.7.700.225 for Mac, 11.2.202.291 for Linux, 11.1.115.63 for Android 4.x and 11.1.111.59 for Android 2.x and 3.x.

By installing the new revision users would avoid the possible exploitation of a memory corruption vulnerability that could lead to code execution.

The highest priority rating is for Windows platforms, which means that the security breach has the potential of being exploited in the wild, although there are no reports to confirm it. For Mac and Linux the risks are lower, with priority ratings of 2 and 3, respectively.

Apart from security fixes, the new Adobe Flash Player also brings to the table a couple of repairs; these refer to the lack of option to disable hardware acceleration and to fallback to WAV audio.

Users of Flash Player 10.3 should keep in mind that extended support for this version ends on July 9, 2013, and version 11.7 will take its place.
