An alarm clock with built-in spy camera

You probably heard about all kinds of spy camera "skins". The concept itself isn't new, since there are tons of pens and baseball caps with built-in spy cameras.

However, take a look at this "eye on the desk": an LCD clock with built-in spy camera. A major achievement when it comes to "Homeland" security, but definitely not a first. The WiLife Spy Cam Alarm was among the first to demonstrate the hidden and perverse side of alarm cocks.

Here's what the Security Camcorder Clock is all about. The built-in camera is activated every time God kills a kitten. To put it in other words, the spy camera starts recording 320 x 240 pixel full motion AVI files whenever someone moves in its view.

The main drawback is that the built-in 64 MB memory records only 12 minutes of action. This probably means it's useless if you own a cat that's keeping an eye on the ground to check for a potential PC mouse revival. At least you'll find out if your cat is responsible for your laptop case scratches. Anyway, don't freak out if you come home one day and find a movie showing your cat reading a blog or something. There's also a SD slot for 4 GB of storage, just in case you need to find out more stuff about your fat cat. Oh, and don't forget to press the button that activates the motion-sensitive on the camcorder.

Here are some specs:

-Dimensions: 5 ?" x 4 ? " x 1 3/4" -The camera runs on 4 AA batteries (not included) -The clock requires 2 AA batteries (included)

The Security Camcorder clock comes with a 1-year warranty. Since it costs 180$, maybe you should consider sticking with your smart web cam software. It would've been nicer if the device also came with a built-in mic. Maybe the audio recordings would've answered the "Do cats talk?" question. Anyhow, Nakata knows the answer to this dilemma (google "Kafka on the shore" and maybe you'll find out if cats talk).
