The plugin is designed to protect the default login page

WordPress and Joomla website administrators who want to prevent hackers from accessing the default login page can turn to a plugin called jSecure Authentication (version for Joomla) or wSecure Authentication (version for WordPress).

The plugins use a secret code that’s entered through the URL path to protect the login page. For instance, in the case of Joomla websites, the default login URL is http://yourwebsite.com/administrator. When jSecure Authentication is installed, the URL must be followed by a secret code.

The same goes for WordPress websites. The default login URL is http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/, but after the plugin is installed it can only be accessed with http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/?SECRETCODE.

If the secret code isn’t correct, the user is redirected to the site’s homepage.

Both jSecure Authentication and wSecure Authentication are available for free. However, there are commercial versions that come with some extra features.

With the commercial versions, administrators can block access to the plugin settings page for other admins, they can block certain IP addresses, record logins, view a graphical representation of login attempts, get email alerts, and manage file and folder permissions.

You can download jSecure Authentication for Joomla from Softpedia. wSecure Authentication, the version for WordPress, is also available for download on Softpedia’s Scripts section.
