Worms such as Excedow, Jenxcus and Houdini (Dinihu) can be highly problematic. If you fear your computer might be infected with Autorun worms, VBS or VBE malware, or any other threat that abuses the Windows Script Host (WSH), I recommend that you give Remediate VBS Worm a try.

Remediate VBS Worm doesn’t have a fancy interface, but that doesn’t mean it’s difficult to use. The developer, Panda Security’s Bart Blaze, recommends that you perform the cleaning operation by following certain steps.

First, select option A, which cleans the infection and fixes any registry changes made by the malware.

In the next phase, remove the threat from the USB drive that might be responsible for the infection. To do this, select option B and type in the letter of the USB drive you want to clean.

The third option, C, installs Panda USB Vaccine, a tool designed to protect your computer against VBS and Autorun worms.

For the cleaning operation to be effective, the tool must be run as administrator. The developer recommends that you don’t perform any other tasks while Remediate VBS Worm is running (it only takes around 30 seconds).

Once the process is completed, perform a full system scan with the antivirus product you have installed on your device to make sure it’s clean.

To quit the application, use the Q option. This ensures that the log file, which is created by default at C:\Rem-VBS.log, is closed properly.
