On Thursday, IT security solutions provider Secunia joined Microsoft’s Technology Center Alliance Program and became the Redmond giant’s first vulnerability security alliance partner.

Microsoft is confident that Secunia’s technologies will help its System Center customers in efficiently protecting their IT infrastructures against vulnerabilities in third-party software. Secunia’s solutions allow organizations to quickly patch vulnerabilities from a single console, at the same time maintaining corporate compliance and control.

Secunia’s Corporate Software Inspector (Secunia CSI 6.0) has been seamlessly integrated with Microsoft’s System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, allowing customers to easily deploy patches for non-Microsoft applications.

“The Microsoft Technology Center only partners with industry leaders and we are very pleased to be invited to join their Alliance Program,” commented Secunia CEO Peter Colsted.

“Secunia is already a member of the Microsoft System Center Alliance program, and we listen carefully to the Microsoft community – the System Center customers and MVPs (most valuable professionals) – when we develop the product features and plugins that facilitate integration with Microsoft’s offerings.”

According to a recent Secunia study, security holes in non-Microsoft applications represent a serious threat, accounting for 85% of the vulnerabilities identified in the top 50 programs installed on private computers last year.

By exploiting the vulnerabilities that plague these applications, cybercriminals can breach a company’s networks and cause some serious damage.

“With System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, our customers can empower employee productivity on a wide range of devices while maintaining compliance and working to protect company data,” noted Andrew Conway, director Product Marketing, Microsoft.

“With Secunia CSI 6.0 and System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, our joint customers can streamline patch management processes and protect both Microsoft and non-Microsoft applications from vulnerabilities.”
