The official website of the Antakya municipality (Antakya.bel.tr), the seat of the Hatay province in southern Turkey, has been disrupted by a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack launched by Turkish hacktivist collective Sector505.

Hackers News Bulletin informs that the site has been targeted in protest against police brutality in Antakya.

A couple of days ago, Antakya police used water cannons and tear gas against individuals who were protesting the killing of a 19-year-old local who took part in the Gezi Park movement in the province of Eskişehir.

In addition to the Antakya website, Sector505 has also launched an attack against the official website of the governor of Eskişehir.

Last week, the hackers leaked a series of documents allegedly stolen from the systems of Turkey’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications.
