TimeGate Studios, in its role of developer, has announced that Prejudice, the sequel to their Section 8 first person shooter, will be released exclusively as a digital download and will cost just 14.99 dollars on the PlayStation 3 and the PC and 1200 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360 home console.
The game is set to arrive at some point during the first quarter of 2011 and on the PC players will be able to get it from Steam and from Games for Windows Live.
Prejudice is set to deliver a 5-hour single player campaign that features a story and aims to teach players the mechanics of the video game while also offering a multiplayer component that support as many as 32 players over a variety of game modes and maps.
Prejudice also delivers an all new 4-player cooperative game mode, named Swarm.
All the multiplayer content can also be enjoyed offline with Section 8: Prejudice delivering full support for bots.
Adel Chaveleh, who is the chief executive officer of TimeGate Studios, has stated when the price was revealed that, “We’re challenging the notion of just how much quality and value we can pack into a digital download first-person shooter.”
He then added, “Our target is very simply to be the highest quality, best value digital FPS on the market. Prejudice is a full-retail-scoped product, so I’m sure our fans will be very happy with our price-point decision.”
TimeGame has also unveiled that they were planning to support the launch of Prejudice with downloadable content, presumably paid for, after launch.
The big innovation or
Section 8 was that players were able to choose exactly where on the battlefield they planned to enter the game, as they were dropped from orbit, eliminating the fixed spawn points that were a staple of the first person shooter.
The multiplayer of the game was well received, but the game failed to register commercial success.
