Crazy idea

Section 8 is a video game that is being currently under development at TimeGate. We've known this for quite some time and the developer has offered some information on what we can expect once the title is out. What we didn't know is that Paramount, the movie-oriented company, is also interested in creating a web series called Section 8, apparently “inspired” (in the worst meaning of the term) by a meeting it had with the people at TimeGate. Of course, it has decided to sue them.

It seems that representatives of the two companies met, with TimeGate being interested in getting into a partnership as far as the potential “business ventures” related to Section 8, which is an entirely original intellectual property, were concerned. Only a few meetings took place before the Vice President of Paramount decided to cancel any further contact, according to Team Xbox.

Shortly after these events, Paramount Digital Entertainment announced a new project, a web series surprisingly called Section 8. The series is set to be interactive and will allow viewers to participate in the decision-making process related to the story.

TimeGate initiated a law suit, saying that the Section 8 series was “essentially, nothing more than an interactive game” and that the idea was basically stolen after the meetings that took place.

The Section 8 video game is set to allow the players to enter the power armor of one member of an elite military unit, which is called Section 8 because its members are involved in the toughest and strangest deployments, where they usually arrive by orbital insertion. The title will be a shooter, which is bound to blend traditional elements with some management concepts.

At the moment, it's not known what the Section 8 web series is exactly about, but it would severely hurt Paramount's chances in the law suit if the protagonists were basically space marines who deployed from orbit.
