As the “Twilight” frenzy is sweeping over the world, with Summit putting out there a brand-new trailer for “New Moon” and officially greenlighting the promo campaign for it, fans will be happy to know that Entertainment Weekly has brand-new secrets from the set of the film to share with them. The current issue of the magazine carries a photospread with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, but also interviews with the two and director Chris Weitz.

If “Twilight” was the underdog and was a comparatively rushed project, “New Moon” is serious business, EW says. There’s immense pressure coming from fans and the industry in general for this to be successful but, aside from the pressure, there are also very high expectations that must not be disappointed. If words were even a true indicative of the kind of effort that goes into a project of the kind, then “New Moon” will surely not disappoint, EW can promise.

Director Weitz, for one, would like the world to know that not all about “New Moon” is about Taylor Lautner and his impressive physical transformation, even if much emphasis has been placed on this fact alone. According to the famous director, fans will be ecstatic to see that this young star is also an incredible actor, a thing that he could not fully put on display with “Twilight,” a professional who, at the end of the day, wants to leave the set knowing for a fact he has given it all his best.

“'I think that Taylor is really going to surprise people in the movie. People have seen his body and all that stuff and it’s a shocker because it’s hard to believe that anyone can be quite so carved. But he actually delivers a really great performance. He wasn’t just exercising all day, he was also reading the book quite a lot.” Weitz tells EW of Lautner’s performance in “New Moon.”

Moreover, according to the magazine, Lautner is not the only one who has been doing his best to make “New Moon” an epic and memorable production, as Kristen Stewart is equally dedicated as well. Known for the ease with which she cuts a scene if she feels a note is off and her ability to live and breathe Bella Swan through her every pore, Kristen is also very protective of the source material (Stephenie Meyers’ books) and wants this to make fans happy, EW writes.

''Before the scene [where Edward leaves Bella in the forest], I was sitting in my car, like [expletive]ing crying – crying so hard you can’t breathe. Because I was really overwhelmed and intimidated by the scene. Everyone says, ‘She better be able to pull off the emotion in this movie!’ And it’s such an important moment in the book, when he leaves.” Stewart reveals for EW, speaking of one of the most important and emotion-laden scenes in “New Moon” and how the pressure to pull it through physically “exhausted” her. On the bright side, “I think ‘New Moon’ is gonna be even better [than ‘Twilight’].” Kristen adds with a smile.
