The Secret World has seen just one open beta weekend and the developers at Funcom are impressed with both the feedback coming from the player community and with their ability to solve the complex logic puzzles that the company has thrown at them.

Trond Arne Aas, the chief executive officer of Funcom, has stated, “The results from the first Beta Weekend are very encouraging. The majority of the feedback we have received from players is very positive, and also looking at it from a development perspective the Beta Weekend was undoubtedly a major success for the company.”

More players have accessed the open beta stage of The Secret World than have even played Funcom’s previous MMO Age of Conan.

Erling Ellingsen, the director of communications working at the company, added for games.on.net that, “They’ll solve anything we throw at them. There’s been a couple of ARGs – Alternate Reality Gaming – that may or may not have come from us, and they’ve jumped on it.

“We’ve been throwing them stuff that we’d never think they would solve, and they just solve it.”

The Secret World is an MMO that aims to drop any sort of class structure and will also challenge gamers to use real-world information and collaborative projects in order to solve in-game riddles and puzzles.

The story of the game is built around three secret societies, the Illuminati, the Templar and the Dragon and will borrow from a number of myths and stories to create a world based on our reality but infused with fantasy and mystical elements.

The Secret World will not force players into combat and allows even those who are only interested in puzzles and mysteries to explore and engage with a deep game world.

The Secret World will be officially launched via the Electronic Arts Partners program on June 19 in both North America and Europe.
