Too cool to be shown now

Splash Damage, which entered into a partnership with Bethesda in May, is hard at work on a new project. The game is apparently a first person shooter and it's set to become “a real killer app.” The name is being withheld at the moment but Bethesda is promising full details to be offered at E3.

Sean Brennan, who is the European managing director for Bethesda, has talked to GamesIndustry.biz, saying that “From a quality perspective we're pitching that along the same lines as Fallout 3. We've kept it under lock and key, there are so many innovative features in there we don't want to reveal them too soon. We've spent significant resources developing the title. And that's a great example of our European work.”

Bethesda is surely trying to push new projects, trying to shed the image as the company relying on Oblivion and Fallout for hits. Recently, the publisher has shown off two interesting projects.

Wet, which is being worked on by A2M, is an acrobatic action game combining some free running with a lot of shooting, while featuring a very alluring heroine.

Rogue Warrior, which is being developed by Rebellion, is said to be an over the top action title, with the main character voiced by Mickey Rourke. Apparently, the company is also set to show another game at E3, one specifically targeted at the European market.

Rumor has it that the developing side of Bethesda is now focusing on working on the next game in the Elder Scrolls franchise, as some time has passed since the release of Oblivion. One of the main signs is that Obsidian has been contracted to create Fallout: New Vegas that tells a parallel story to Fallout 3, being set to arrive next year on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
