New technology to challenge Google and Yahoo

Nowadays, the online search engine market is dominated by Google and Yahoo, the companies that are currently providing the most popular search technologies on the internet. Although Yahoo is regarded more as the giant portal than as a search engine provider, Google is identified through its search products that are currently well known in the entire world. For example, the company is also known as the search giant that currently offers multiple search applications such as Google Search, Custom Search, Google Desktop, Video Search, Image Search and many other products. As you probably know, all the Google products are based on the well known search engine, the company trying to expand the power of the technology into several online or downloadable solutions.

Because the two companies are currently in the leader positions when it comes to search engines, many other firms announced their plans to design several products that are meant to challenge the one provided by the giants. For example, Wikipedia's founder recently said that a revolutionary search engine is currently in the labs, being designed especially to compete with the solutions provided by Google.

Today, it seems like a powerful alliance is going to conquer the mobile search engine market on the internet after Sunday Telegraph reported that Vodafone, France Telecom, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Hutchison Whampoa, Telecom Italia and one American network and Cingular are preparing to release a product to compete with the two giants' products.

"The networks may decide to go with an existing search engine and use their combined might to secure a majority slice of the income. Another idea up for discussion is the creation of a white label service, with a single advertising sales house and technical team, to which mobile networks could then apply their own brand. A UK executive at one of the companies involved said: 'There is a big play in mobile search that we need to be part of, and we are exploring those options at a very high level'," the publication reported.

One of the most interesting aspects of the speculation is represented by multiple partnerships already announced by both Google and Yahoo that are meant to improve the presence of the companies on the mobile market. At this time, rumors sustaining Google is preparing a handheld device are all around and even photographs of potential Google mobile products were already leaked and published on the internet.
