Asus and Google have been long rumored to plan the launch of a successor of the popular Nexus 7 tablet PC, and some more confirmation on the matter has allegedly been provided.

Although an official announcement on the slate hasn’t been made as of now, an Asus rep is said to have spilled all the juicy details on the matter in a discussion that was posted over on Reddit.

The Nexus 7 name hasn’t been specifically mentioned in the chat, but the two discussed the availability and specifications of Asus K009, which was previously said to be the model number that the successor of Google’s first Nexus tablet PC will feature.

For the time being, however, we’ll take the info with a grain of salt, given that the screenshots that prove that said discussion indeed took place might have been manufactured, as AndroidAuthority notes. However, it’s still worth noticing that the alleged specs of the device match those rumored before.

Thus, the Asus K009 is said to arrive on shelves with a 7-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1980 x 1200-pixel resolution, while being powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 / Snapdragon APQ8064 processor.

The mobile device should also feature 2GB of RAM inside, along with 32GB of internal memory, with no mention of a microSD memory card slot.

What supposedly represents the internal specifications of the upcoming tablet also shows a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, paired with a 1.2MP front camera, as well as Google’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform loaded on top.

Asus K009 is also said to be powered by a 4000mAh battery and to sport a nice range of connectivity capabilities, including Wi-Fi a/b/g/n,Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, as well as LTE / WCDMA / GSM.

Apparently, Asus and Google are set to make the device official before the end of this month, just as previous reports suggested, so stay tuned to learn more on it.
