After NVIDIA pushed out GeForce 302.80 Drivers for Windows 8, it's Intel's turn to deliver some goodies. The second HD Graphics Beta package for Microsoft’s latest operating system is now out.

We announced the NVIDIA WHQL Certified drivers for Windows 8 Release Preview yesterday and, now, High Definition display drivers are available from Intel for the same platform.

These drivers are ready for 2nd Generation Core Processors with Intel HD Graphics 3000/2000 and 3rd Generation Core Processors with Intel HD Graphics 4000/2500, but make sure you check out the changelog file for a full list of supported chipsets.

The version number increased only from 15.28.0.2729 to 15.28.0.64.2770, for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures, which would seem to make it less important – but the highlights say otherwise.

Intel boasts of DirectX 11 support in this release, WDDM 1.2 and video encode, transcode usage features:

This driver provides full support for Windows Display Driver Model version 1.2 (WDDM v1.2) features including native stereoscopic 3D support, optimized screen rotation detection and integrated DirectX 11 video playback and adds several bug fixes and improvements for video encode and transcode usages. We invite our users to download and install the latest Intel HD Graphics Drivers along with Windows 8 Preview Release :
