The guidos and guidettes of “Jersey Shore” have literally made production on the fourth season of the reality show come to a halt by asking for more money from MTV to be on it. The salary dispute comes just as they were supposed to be heading to Italy to start shooting for it.

PopEater reports that some of the members of the cast are holding off from signing the contracts because they want more money.

Since this is the second time it happens (when production is halted over salary disputes), they hope they will convince the producers to give them bigger paychecks – after all, “Jersey Shore” is the biggest program on MTV right now.

“Snooki, The Situation, JWoww and Pauly D have not finalized their contracts because they can’t agree on the amount,” a source cited by PopEater says.

Before season 3 started shooting, some members of the cast went on a short strike, asking for more money on their new contracts, given how popular the series had turned out to be.

Back then, they managed to triple their earnings per episode, from $10,000 to $30,000. Clearly, that amount is not enough anymore.

“As of last week Deena hadn’t signed her contract either but Ronnie, Sammi, and Vinny were done. Last time they had these issues, it was Ronnie, Sammi and Vinny who held out the longest,” says the same spy.

“Time is short, everyone is getting concerned because they’re supposed to leave for Italy soon, I just hope they can settle it,” adds the source.

TMZ too confirms that there’s something holding up production on the reality show, even if MTV is yet to comment officially on it.

Apparently, word has it that members of the cast want to milk it for all it’s worth since the 4th season will actually be the last: so they want more money.

At the same time, there’s a difference of opinions as regards appearance fees, with MTV trying to force the stars to make fewer public paid appearances in a bid to boost ratings.

Since the stars can make up to $40,000 on a single night, they can’t agree on that.
