Google really allows you to do that!

Google Notebook is a service provided by Google that allows you to write your private information, details about your favorite things or even save any text into an online platform that can save it to your account. The service became very popular, many users choosing the service to write down any kind of text. The company also developed an additional tool that will be installed and included into your browser to allow you to post new messages into your notebook fast and easy.

Even if the service is supposed to be very safe and secure, one tiny option can make your information, including e-mail password, credit card numbers or even bank accounts, available to any visitor that uses the notebook search engine. If you want to avoid this unpleasant situation, you should use the "Sharing Options" feature that helps you to make your messages available to public.

"It looks like some people using Google Notebook are bookmarking sensitive personal information, including social security numbers and email passwords. And others are finding that sensitive information via the Google Notebook search tool," TechCrunch said.

"What's amazing is that Google Notebook defaults to privacy, and users have to explicitly opt in to have information made available via the search. Google probably has no responsibility for this information, although some of it appears to be third party personal information, and they are hosting it on their servers. We'll see if they start to censor this stuff to avoid liability," they added.

If you want to search others' notebooks, you should follow this link and use any keyword you want. But remember that some notebooks are not available anymore because it seems that Google has started to remove the sensitive content posted on the service.
