Singer Sean Kingston was involved in a jet ski accident late on Sunday night, when he crashed his watercraft into a bridge. His rep says he’s been moved from the trauma unit into ICU, which means he remains in critical, but stable, condition. As we also
informed you the other day, Kingston and an unidentified female passenger were on the ski jet at the time of the accident: both were rushed to the hospital.
A passerby noticed them floating in the water after the crash and jumped in to make sure they stayed above water until an ambulance arrived.
Kingston’s rep confirms that the singer is now in a stable condition, though it’s still listed as critical.
“Sean Kingston is now stabilized and has moved from the trauma unit to ICU. Sean’s family thanks everyone for their prayers and support during this time,” Kingston’s publicist Joseph Carozza tells
People magazine.
At the same time, police sources tell
TMZ that alcohol was most definitely not a factor in the crash.
“Anderson was operating a PWC [personal watercraft] with a female passenger westbound along McArthur Cswy towards the Palm Ave bridge. Anderson struck the bridge and was transported to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition,” a report by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reads.
The passerby who saved Kingston’s life is actually a member of the Coast Guard, Jonathan Rivera, who says he was on his way home when the accident took place.
He jumped into the water and, because Kingston’s vest had come undone, struggled to keep his head above water: the singer’s weight made this relatively simple task very complicated, he says for
TMZ.
Rivera also says that, when he got to Kingston, “he was puking up blood out of mouth,” but claims not to have noticed any visible head injury.
“Rivera says when help arrived, he told Sean he was going to be okay. He says Kingston repeated back to him, ‘I’m going to be okay’,” TMZ writes.
