Veteran actor Sir Sean Connery has undergone surgery for a kidney tumor and is now recovering at home, his spokesperson said yesterday. He is well now after the complicated intervention.
The James Bond star had the operation a few weeks ago in New York. According to Connery's spokesman, the 75-year-old actor is currently at his Bahamas home, preparing to return to work. "He's very fit, he's 100 per cent plus," spokesman James Barron said of the former James Bond actor. Connery told the Sunday Times he "was opened in five places."
The star, an ardent Scottish nationalist, is scheduled to record a voiceover in a political program for the pro-independence Scottish National party. He also plans to attend Tartan Day festivities in New York in April, party leader Alex Salmond said. "It is true that Sean had a successful procedure carried out some weeks ago," said Salmond. "But he's now fighting fit and raring to go."
