This week, the American Film Institute held the annual ceremony in acknowledgment of great movies and actors in Los Angeles, at the Kodak Theater.
The award for 'Lifetime Accomplishments' went to the original James Bond actor, Oscar-winning Sir Sean Connery. The veteran actor, aged 76, admitted that only after 70 years of continuous activity is he able to say open-heartedly that he has perfected himself as a public performer.
Among the guests were Andy Garcia, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford, all four closely connected with Connery's work: Andy Garcia had his first occasion of acting with him in 1987 in 'The Untouchables'; Harrison Ford played 'James Bond' years after Connery, Spielberg worked with him on various movies and George Lucas is planning to do so again in the future.
The breaking news that came only after the show ended and everybody presented their tribute to Hollywood's number one legend, was that Lucas (who directed 'Star Wars') intends to sign Sir Connery for the new 'Indiana Jones 4' movie and is determined to settle only for him on the set, quote, 'whether he wants to or not'.
