Sean Bean laughs off his impressive resume of on-screen deaths on NBC segment

Sean Bean only went “mainstream” after he died in “Lord of the Rings,” and most recently, on “Game of Thrones” but fans know that, long before that, he had made a career out of dying spectacularly in movies.

An Internet meme would have us believe that Sean Bean dies in every project he does, be it for the small or the silver screen. No one is more aware of that than the actor himself, as he makes it clear during his appearance on Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb’s Today segment on NBC.

Check out the video below for the full interview, including a hilarious moment in which Bean tries to guess the movie after hearing the description of his death scene.

He also talks about the new series he’s starring in for TNT, “Legends,” on which he plays an undercover FBI agent who, because of his job, has lost all sense of identity, and promises that this is one role that won’t see him die too soon and in an unexpected manner.

Obviously, the conversation also touches upon “Game of Thrones” and Bean’s start in the industry, when he would always get cast as the bad guy – that was back in the day when all villains in Hollywood movies were either British or Russian / German.

I don’t know about you, but I find his voice irresistible. The same goes for his self-deprecating sense of humor. Enjoy!
