The crew aboard a Royal Navy vessel, i.e. the HMS Bulwark, were nothing if not surprised when realizing that they were being carefully monitored by a seal.

Apparently, the seal boarded the vessel and set up camp on its landing dock just as the crew were getting ready to commence their military exercises.

Sources say that the animal displayed a great interest in the crew aboard the ship, and that it spent a full half an hour keeping a close eye on them. The seal only decided to swim away when an officer tried to approach it.

“It’s rather unusual to have a seal actually come on board, but he seemed very inquisitive and interested in what we were up to,” Air Aviation Officer Lt. Sarah Filshie later told members of the press.
