Seagate Further Expands FreeAgent for Mac Series

Adds new storage solutions for creative professionals

Seagate unveils new FreeAgent storage solutions for Mac

After having recently announced the expansion of its BlackArmor and FreeAgent series of external drives, the Scotts Valley, California-based Seagate has just informed about the introduction of a new line-up of mobile and desktop FreeAgent for Mac storage solutions. In addition to the new FreeAgent Go for Mac with USB, FreeAgent Go Pro for Mac, the 2TB FreeAgent Desk for Mac external storage solutions, the storage vendor has also announced the introduction of the new FreeAgent Go Dock+, a powered USB hub and dock for the FreeAgent Go. According to Seagate, the new solutions have been designed to meet the requirements of creative professionals, web designers, musicians and graphics artists.

“Whether your passion is music, photography, film or design, creative professionals and enthusiasts alike need high-quality storage solutions to keep their inspired creations safe and secure,” Terry Cunningham, senior vice president, Seagate Branded Solutions, says. “These latest FreeAgent for Mac offerings provide the perfect instrument to store, back up and protect your creations.”

The FreeAgent Go for Mac storage solution comes with support for Mac OS X and Time Machine, enabling users with up to 500GB of storage space, accessible through a convenient USB 2.0 port. With prices starting at US$99.99 and ranging up to US$149.99, depending on capacity, the new FreeAgent Go for Mac is expected to become available later this month. Also available is the FreeAgent Go Pro for Mac, a solution that adds support for FireWire 800 or FireWire 400 connections and bundles the required cables and dock. Prices start at US$129.99 and go all the way up to US$189.99.

The FreeAgent Desk Drive for Mac will be available with a large storage capacity of 2TB and provide users with an extensive connectivity support, including FireWire 800, 400 and USB 2.0 interfaces. The solution will be available this month for an MSRP of US$169.99. In addition, Seagate has also announced the release of the FreeAgent Go Dock+, featuring three additional USB ports and enabling access to the user's FreeAgent Go portable drive. The dock comes with an MSRP of US$39.99.

If it supports 4/6 pin Firewire Cables and is reasonably priced, I might just look into it.
