There aren't all that many things that can come as a surprise on the IT market, but Scythe either managed it or got really close by creating the desktop-aimed Karma Reader Jr.

There are some sorts of PC peripherals or accessories that do not get much attention on the part of the IT news sector.

Granted, one reason for this is that not all sorts of hardware is as customizable, for instance, as video cards or varied as memory products, while CPUs aren't customizable at all, although they do come in full lines and are heard of whenever a new system debuts.

There is also the fact that certain pieces of hardware are not all that widespread, at least not on all PC segments.

For instance, laptops usually come equipped with a memory card reader by default, but the same cannot be said about desktop PCs.

Knowing this, Scythe figured it wouldn't hurt to create the Karma Reader Jr., essentially a card reader with support for a bunch of different formats.

The list includes, but is not limited to, Compact Flash, SD, SDHC, Mini SD (needs adapter), MultiMedia Card (multiple sorts), Memory Stick (DUO, PRO, ROM, PRO-ROM) and Memory Stick Micro. Plus MicroSD and Micro SDHC.

That said, the device is designed in such a way as to fit inside a 3.5-inch drive bay, as it measures 101 x 25.5 x 9 mm, the equivalent of 4.04 x 1.02 x 3.74 inches (WxHxD).

Compatibility with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 is assured and the connection to the motherboard is achieved via an USB 2.0 port (internal).

All in all, practically every memory card on today's market can be quickly and easily read or written onto.
