Even though graphics, memory and storage contribute to the overall performance of a PC, the system will always be limited by the power of the central chip. A good system always has a good central processing unit (CPU) and what a good CPU always needs is a strong cooler. Eager to have CPUs feel the breath of winter, Scythe has completed work on a cooling mechanism employing an 'X' design and that is compatible with both Intel and AMD chip sockets. The cooler is known as the Grand Kama Cross and supports flexible fan controlling.

The Grand Kama Cross CPU cooler measures 177x140x137 mm (6.97 x 5.51 x 5.39 inches) and uses a Slip Stream 140 mm PWM fan. The heatsink is made up of two aluminum fin arrays, which receive the heat from the processor through four 6mm copper heatpipes. The fan dissipates the heat and its PWM support allows the motherboard to control the rotary speed.

In addition, the 140 x 140 x 25 mm spinner can rotate at speeds between 500 ad 1,300 rpm. This enables an airflow of 27.2 to 69.93 CFM and a noise level of 9.6 to 24.7 dBA. The cooler's base plate is made of nickel-plated copper and the entire product weighs 750 g.

The processors supported by the Grand Kama Cross are the AMD Socket 754, 939, AM2, AM2+ and AM3 chips, as well as the Intel Socket 478, LGA 775, LGA 1156 and LGA 1366 units. This wide support is enabled by Multiplatform Socket Mounting Clips and a 4-Way mounting procedure. This capability enables users to configure the airflow direction, so as to cool not just the CPU, but also the chipsets and MOS-FETs (metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistors).

The Grand Kama Cross cooler from Scythe (model number SCKC-2000) has a price tag of $45/29.50 Euro (without VAT). Information may be found on the official product page.
