Although Scythe is much more renowned for its high-performance computing cooling solutions, the company also builds some of the best-sounding stereo speaker systems available in the computer world, Scythe just announcing they have revised their Kro Craft speakers in order to deliver better midrange and richer and more precise bass.

Compared to the regular version of the Kro Craft speakers, the Rev. B units feature an enlarged bass/midrange driver, the speakers being now able to cover a frequency range between 58 Hz and 20 kHz with up to 2x20W inputs.

Together with Scythe's own “Flow Guided Bass Reflex Structure” speaker design, this new driver should allow for a more authentic reproduction of low notes, the audio signal quality being further improved by the rigid gold plated connectors.

This revised version of speakers will be available either individually or in different sets, Scythe bundling these together with an amplifier in the Kro Craft Speaker Plus and Kro Craft Speaker Extra kits.

As a result, users will get either the Kama Bay AMP Kro (SDA-1100) or Kama Bay AMP 2000 (SDA 2000) amplifiers together with the speakers, both models being built around the Yamaha YDA138 (D-3) chip which is rated at 88% maximum efficiency whereas the S/N Ratio is specified at 103 dB.

The two stereo channels available allow for 2x10Watt (8 Ohm) maximum output, both amplifiers being designed to fit inside a free 5.25-inch bay, although the Kama Bay AMP 2000 is equipped with knobs in the front, which allows switching among the 4 sources as well as individual adjustment of bass and treble separately.

As far as prices are concerned, the Kro Craft Speaker will be available for 42.00 EUR (excluding VAT), the Kama Bay AMP Kro is priced at 79,00 EUR, while the Kro Craft Speaker Extra kit is available for 88.00 EUR in either black or silver.
