Although the DualShock 4 is largely regarded as a great controller, improving on the DualShock 3 and modernizing the layout in order to better suit modern action-oriented games, it's still found to be lacking, especially when it comes to competitive gameplay.

Sony's PlayStation 4 controller is still missing lacking, and so another company decided to fill the gap and release a more competitive version of the thing, coming out this August. The new controller can be seen in the picture above, it's called 4PS and it comes from competitive gear makers Scuf Gaming, and as such it is oriented towards a more competitive audience.

The DualShock 4 might have received praise from your garden variety gamer, competitive players have rejected it time after time, which resulted in various competitive gaming leagues, such as the MLG, to openly make the Xbox One the official machine for all sanctioned tournaments and events.

The new competitive controller coming out this August should offer Sony fans the edge they need when engaging in online conflicts, and it should ensure that controller design is not the only factor causing the PlayStation 4 to be disregarded by the more hardcore gaming audience.

"The new SCUF 4PS allows gamers to take full control of their movement in game. With over 4 patents granted and another 25 applied for, the SCUF 4PS is feature rich and robust; from the fully re-designed SCUF Back to the new SCUF control disc, every aspect has been designed to increase hand use, improve comfort and reduce latency in an intuitive and ergonomic way," the official product description reads.

"The SCUF 4PS is customizable to your preferred style of gameplay and enables you to use more of your hand in a safe and ergonomic way to truly become the best gamer you can be," Scuf Gaming touts the new controller.

The 4PS controller is designed to provide a much more comfortable experience than the vanilla DualShock 4, because the company knows that serious gamers can play upwards of eight hours a day and as such the repetitive motions can lead to a lot of stress, strain or even injuries.

The potential for harmful consequences due to prolonged gaming sessions is alleviated by the 4PS' specific design and customization options, which cater to the needs of a focused gamer, removing the need to resort to techniques such as the infamous claw in order to get the most out of your controller.
