jqMobi is one of the new tools launched with the HTML 5 wave, created for allowing app developers to write code that handles the same across a wide range of HTML5-capable devices.

jqMobi is actually a selector library, supporting the classic jQuery syntax and almost all of the new HTML 5 and CSS 3 elements.

It also comes packed with an UI/UX toolkit, named jqUI, for quickly building interfaces that handle and look the same on most smartphones and browsers. jqUI currently supports iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices.

If unfortunately jqMobi does not fit a project's requirements, a plugins system will allow developers to create the new functionality and attach it to the jqMobi core. Of course, some of the most common and useful plugins are already shipped by default with jqMobi anyway, so you won't have to do so much coding yourself anyway.

The jqMobi source code is hosted on GitHub.

Download jqMobi from our Scripts section here.

Since writing this article, jqMobi has been renamed to App Framework and has joined Intel.
