Screenwriter Says ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ Will Be Hotter

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg promises “Breaking Dawn” will be hotter without getting an R rating

Melissa Rosenberg, the official “Twilight” screenwriter, who has turned the first three books of Stephenie Meyer into blockbusters, is now working on the script for the big screen adaptation of the fourth and last novel in the series. As fans must know, “Breaking Dawn” will be made into two films, much in the manner of “Harry Potter” – and Rosenberg is already dishing out some details, as E! Online can confirm.

One thing that fans have been fervently debating since it was announced that the fourth book would be split into two is whether the film will be R-rated. Those who’ve read the original novels know that, unlike the first three installments, “Breaking Dawn” includes several love scenes which could, if portrayed in the film, lead to an R rating from the MPAA. This, in turn, would mean that many Twi-hards would not even be allowed in the theater to see it because of the age limit, which, of course, would put Summit Entertainment, the movie studio, in quite a predicament.

As it turns out, the film will remain PG-13, just like “Eclipse,” which is now running in theaters all over the world (see a full review of it here). However, that’s not to say that it will not do justice to the events presented in the book, Rosenberg assures fans. On the contrary actually, it will be “way” hotter than “Eclipse” because the scribe is convinced that a lot can be done even with a PG-13 rating, no matter what skeptics may believe or even say. “I think we can get awfully [hot] with a PG-13. I’m not worried about the rating. I know a lot of fans are like, ‘We have to go R to do it justice,’ but I don’t think so. I think it’s going to be pretty hot. Way hot!” Rosenberg says.

As for the possibility of sticking with the “Twilight” franchise past the five initial movies – word on the street has it that Summit may also be considering turning the “Life of Bree Tanner” novella into a spinoff – Rosenberg simply doesn’t see it happening. Even if Summit does make another movie and in case Meyer reconsiders and writes another “Twilight” novel featuring the same characters, the screenwriter will still believe the time has come to move on to other projects.

“It’s really up to Stephenie [Meyer]. If she wants to tell more stories I, as a reader, am hungry for them. I am probably done adapting. It’s probably time for me to do something else, but never say never. Adapting Stephenie Meyer is a hell of a life. It’s been wonderful,” Rosenberg says.

I enjoyed the books, but as I was finishing the fourth, I cound't stop thinking of adding extra scenes for the Breaking Dawn movie. What do you think??

Little Bit Vampire – During the honeymoon Bella wakes up hot and hungry with Edward gone to hunt: Instead of fried chicken, she makes a personal size steak. Scene provides some explanation about vampire venom, becoming a vampire, a little humor and Bella walking around wearing little.

Bella makes a personal sized steak for herself. She cooks the steak very rare, eats it quickly, and licks the plate clean; there is juice and blood dripping down her chin. She wipes the blood off her chin and licks her fingers clean. After she’s done, she’s still hungry. She spies the empty steak package with blood in it. She has an irresistible craving to sniff the blood. She is surprised that the raw blood smells so good and can’t stop herself from licking the package clean. When she is done, she can’t believe she did that asks what’s happening to me and throws the container in the garbage.

Later she is pacing back and forth (reminiscent of American Werewolf in London, maybe playing Blue Moon) thinking about what she just did. As dawn breaks she sees a crystal chandelier sparkling, she goes to a window and looks at her arm in the bright sunlight to see if it sparkles like Edward’s skin. It doesn’t. She goes to the bathroom to check her teeth. Bella leans over the vanity in her silk shorts and camisole to look closely at her teeth in the mirror. Meanwhile, Edward has come back from his hunting trip. He sneaks up behind her in the bathroom and sees only her backside; not her examining her teeth.

Later that day after making love and lying in bed, Bella crawls up Edward and pulls his chin down to examine his teeth. She runs her finger along his teeth, including the sharp edges. Edward tells her to be careful. Bella asks about the venom. She says it can’t be your saliva, or I would have turned vampire a long time ago. Edward explains that the venom is in his saliva, tears and throughout his body. However, the venom needs a catalyst (the iron in your blood) in order to initiate the genetic mutations necessary to become a vampire. He asks her why the question.

She explains that she thinks she is slowly turning into a vampire. She has been having weird dreams where she is a vampire, she ate a very rare steak when she normally likes meat well done, she licked clean the bloody steak container, and she LIKED IT. Edward chastises her for eating raw meat because it was unsanitary. He also tells her that she can’t be a little bit vampire; it would be like being a little bit pregnant. You either are or aren’t a vampire and you WILL know when you turn into a vampire. Bella twists in his arms and then has to rush to the bathroom to be sick. Back to the book….

Bella Teaches Jacob a Lesson – Bella teaches Jacob about kissing unwilling girls.

Edward releases Bella after she meets Jacob for the first time as a vampire, Bella lunges at Jacob; Edward is too surprised to stop her. Bella crushes Jacob in her arms and plants a big wet kiss on him. Jacob tries to escape but can’t. Seth barks a laugh, Leah looks disgusted. After Jacob starts to heave because of the werewolf reaction to vampires, Bella releases him. Bella laughs and tells Jacob that is what it feels when someone forces themselves on you. When you imprint on someone, you should make sure they feel the same way before you kiss them. Jacob gives a nervous laugh and Edward grimaces. When they are walking back to house to meet Renesmee, Bella unobtrusively spits out the taste of Jacob. She tells Edward I thought you were kidding about the smell and taste.

Meeting Her Baby – When Bella meets her baby for the first time; instead of Renesmee thinking about drinking human blood she burps/spits up a little human blood on Bella’s face. Scene provides sudden, unexpected, and unprecedented level of violence. Shows how much stronger Bella is, shows her self-control, and shows Rosalie asking for Jacob’s protection.

Renesmee burps up blood into Bella’s face and mouth, Bella goes rigid, draws in her breath and her eyes dilate blood red. Simultaneously Edward grabs Renesmee from Bella and hands her to Rosalie. Rosalie jumps back and yells for Jacob to protect her; Jacob jumps in front of Rosalie; phasing at the same time. Jacob and Edward stand crouching in front of Rosalie and the crying Renesmee. At the same time Emmett and Jasper restrain Bella’s arms. Crazed, thinking Renesmee is hurt; Bella screams and slams Emmett’s and Jasper’s heads together and throws them aside like rag dolls. Emmett is slammed against the kitchen granite counter top breaking it and slides to the floor dazed. Alice catches Jasper in mid-flight and he slumps dazed through her arms to the floor. Alice is enraged and lunges herself at Bella. Bella catches her in mid-flight by her neck and holding her up by one arm snaps her neck; Alice goes limp. Edward screams “Bella stop” and Bella realizes what she is did and stops. Bella gentle lowers Alice to the floor; Carlisle and Esme come to help.

Rosalie; back to her combative self with Jacob and embarrassed that she called for him; tells him to change back and get some clothes on. Rosalie gives Jacob Renesmee and goes to Emmett. Emmett is dazed but shrugs it off saying he’s fine, Bella just surprised him. Jasper staggers over to Alice to be with her. Jasper mentioned that in all his vampire wars he never thought of hitting a vampire with another vampire; only a rock. With her family helping Alice, Jasper, and Emmet, Bella see Jacob with Renesmee. Jacob and Renesmee are staring at each other and running their fingers through each other’s hair. Bella figures out that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee. Back to the book….

My Baby – Bella resents and is jealous about how much time Rosalie can spend with Renesmee. Bella can’t feed or burp Renesmee. Scene shows a softer side of Rosalie and the deep love Emmett has for her. Scene also puts to rest the strained relationship between Bella and Alice, and provides suspense about Renesmee’s life.

After a day of making rude comments about Bella and Edward’s sex life or lack thereof, Emmett says one more joke that gets the vampire Bella to look down embarrassed. Emmett jumps up, raising his arms cheering at his accomplishment. Baby in next room wakes and starts to cry. Rosalie is exasperated and scolds Emmett for waking the baby; Emmett looks at her and apologizes for waking the baby. He says: “I forgot that we had a baby in the house.” Bella’s temper flares. Rosalie gets up to care for Renesmee, but Bella rushes in front of her. Rosalie collides with Bella and stumbles backward. Bella says: “I’ll take care of MY baby.” and goes to put Renesmee back to sleep. Rosalie is very hurt and looking down quickly rushes out of the house so her family won’t see her trying to cry. Emmett goes to her but she pushes him away. Emmett follows her outside. Edward goes to Bella a little bit angry at the pain she caused his sister. Bella, rocking Renesmee, knows what she just did, she wants to cry but can’t, she doesn’t know why she is having these mood swings. Edward comforts her explaining that as a newborn she is doing remarkably well. All three go looking for Rosalie.

Emmett is sitting on the lawn next to the river; Rosalie is in his arms rocking back and forth holding her torso trying but not able to cry. She is telling him that Bella has everything and all she ever wanted in her entire life was a baby. She then has an epiphany. She tells Emmett he can father a child with a human for her to have all her own. Emmett says no way will he make love to anyone but her. Rosalie rolls her eyes; of course you will not; this is the 21st Century; there is artificial insemination. Emmett tells her he can’t do that to a women knowing how much it hurt Bella. Rosalie pleads with him saying Carlisle knows so much more now. We know to feed her blood; we know the length of the gestation period so a C-Section can be safely done earlier before the baby can do too much harm to the surrogate mother. Emmett and now Carlisle and rest of family again tell Rosalie no; explaining this time. They tell her that Renesmee is not just getting bigger rapidly, she is rapidly getting older. She is ageing at about ten times the normal rate. If she doesn’t slow down she’ll only live for another seven to ten years. Can we do that to another child? Can you imagine what will happen to Bella when Renesmee dies of old age in ten years? Alice hushes them down because Bella is coming.

Bella, holding Renesmee, goes to Rosalie to apologize for her behavior. Rosalie also apologizes for monopolizing Renesmee and trying to take her all the time. Bella says: “Renesmee is OUR child; I carried her but you kept us alive when no one would believe me that I could do this. I will always love you for that and I will try not to be so jealous.” Alice, hearing this, is upset and hurt and starts to walk away. Bella gives Renesmee to Rosalie and jumps ahead of Alice. Before Alice can react, Bella hugs and holds her to prevent her from leaving. Bella tells Alice she loves her too and she will always be her best friend and sister. Bella tells Alice she understood her behavior during the pregnancy and didn’t hold it against her because she couldn’t see the future when she was carrying Renesmee. She knows that Alice loves her and only wanted to protect her but would have sacrificed her baby doing so. Bella couldn’t have that and that is why she went to Rosalie for help.

Meeting Grandpa – Charlie is a police officer. He is smart and knows when people are lying, he especially knows Bella. He doesn’t want the whole truth, but he doesn’t want to be deliberately lied to. Scene adds some comedy and shows that Charlie does care about Bella and is emotional. Goes against Hollywood grain of showing fathers as clueless.

Bella and Edward plead with Renesmee not to talk or show Charlie any pictures of what happened when she was born and to especially not bite him. Charlie comes over to confront the Cullins about Bella after Jacob phased in front of him. Charlie sees Renesmee and is surprised at the resemblance but listens to the story Bella tells him. Bella makes a mistake and tells Charlie that Renesmee looks so much like Edward because the child is the baby of Edward’s cousin, Richard Cullin, who with his wife, died in a car accident in Brazil. Charlie reaches for Renesmee but Bella pulls away to avoid smelling him. Charlie misconstrues her actions and is suspicious of her reaction. Charlie is given Renesmee and walks away towards the windows leaving others behind. Renesmee touches Charlie and shows him a picture of Bella when she was a baby, overlaying her own features. Charlie does a double take and looks at Renesmee even more closely; seeing even more of Bella in her. Charlie thinks the image Renesmee showed him is only his memory. He also comes to the certain conclusion that somehow, Renesmee is Bella’s and Edward’s child, tearing up he holds her tighter to his neck. Renesmee snuggles up to him.

Edward sucks in his breath and tells the others what Renesmee just did and what Charlie now knows. Edward doesn’t know where Renesmee got a picture of Bella as a baby. Jacob explains “my bad”. He was tired of seeing the only image Renesmee had of Bella, Bella torn apart and dead in the birthing room, that he borrowed Charlie’s Family Photo Album and showed Renesmee Bella’s baby photos amonst others. Jacob says you shouldn’t punish Renesmee for what she did because those photos were from eighteen years ago and not when she was born. Bella is shocked that Renesmee deliberately disobeyed her and says “bs”; Renesmee knew we didn’t want her to show Charlie any pictures so she’s getting pureed vegetables tonight and no blood. Renesmee hears this, looks up and with a mischievous grin, goes to bite Charlie’s neck. Edward again sucks in his breath and countermands Bella’s punishment and says she can have blood. Renesmee suckles Charlie instead; tickling him. Bella rolls her eyes knowing that Renesmee has Edward wrapped around her little finger.

Charlie comes back with Renesmee saying she needs to be fed because she is sucking on his neck like it’s a bottle. Rosalie takes Renesmee to feed her. Charlie sits on coffee table in front of Bella and Edward and holds each of their hands. He notices how cold they are but doesn’t flinch. Looking them directly in the eyes he tells them that he doesn’t mind too much if they can’t tell him the whole truth but please don’t deliberately lie to me. He deserves at least that much respect as Bella’s father. Edward looks down and is ashamed for the first time for lying to Charlie, he tells Charlie that Renesmee is indeed their child. Edward asked Charlie how he knew. Charlie then kicks off points:

• Renesmee looks too much like Bella and Edward; not the child from a fictitious cousin named Richard Cullin. Edward is adopted so he has no cousins named Cullin.
• Everyone said you were on deaths door, but here you are looking fit as a fiddle. Miraculously cured after a short time away and now you have an “adopted” baby. What do you think this is; the 1950’s?
• Rosalie is obviously not pregnant or the mother like Alice said. Rosalie looks up and at Alice. Alice shrugs and says “my bad”. Alice went to Seattle to buy baby cloths. Jessica and Angela were in Seattle visiting their university when they recognized her yellow Porsche in front of a baby boutique. They rushed into the boutique, saw me buying baby girl clothes, ran over and grabbed me from behind screaming that they knew Bella is pregnant. I was ignoring my visions because of the headaches and it was so sudden that I didn’t see them coming. They scared me so much I almost tore their heads off. I said Bella wasn’t pregnant; you weren’t, you already had Renesmee; but I was so flustered that the only thing I could think of was Rosalie holding the baby so much that I may have said that Rosalie may be expecting. Rosalie noted that that must be why everyone in town is treating her more oddly than normal; holding doors open, asking to help her, asking how she’s feeling. Jessica can’t keep anything to herself.
• Charlie goes on saying Bella’s reactions with Renesmee are exactly overprotective like Rene’s with Bella. Bella also looks different; happier, shinier, fuller, more grown up, another sign of maternity.

Charlie asks if Renesmee is going to be alright; growing up so fast. Edward says they don’t know but they are researching it. He explains that because Renesmee is growing so fast we can’t let other people know Bella has a child. If you can live with that we’ll be able stay in Forks longer. Charlie agrees and drops a bombshell. Charlie asks if the rapid gestation cycle and growth is because she’s a vampire. The Cullins are stunned. Charlie laughs, oh come on, do you think I’m stupid. As soon as I saw Jacob phase, I knew you were vampires. Werewolves and vampires are always together. You complement each other. Rosalie hisses at Jacob because he jokingly stroked her hair. I’ve been hearing Billie’s folk tales for years. You’re cold to the touch. Bella’s computer history has vampire sites all over it. I never see you age, I never see you in the sunlight, even now in your own home you avoid the windows, I never see you eat. You don’t even speak like you’re from this century. I also know your good people so I’m not worried about it. Edward looks at Bella rolls his eyes and shakes his head. Edward tells Charlie to clear the computer’s memory and not tell anyone or even think about what he suspects; his life and ours depend on it. Charlie agrees.

Power – The final fight should be more definitive so that people won’t think you are going to milk another sequel. Vampires are also way too emotional to walk away. It will also show Bella as the most powerful and feared vampire.

As Bella is defending her family against the attacks of Chelsea, Jane, and Alec she sees her ability in a different light; not only as a shield but as a mirrored shield. She is quickly mastering her power. The attacks are reflecting off the shields and are being diffused by its convex surface. Bella wonders if she can reverse the shield and make it concave around a person. While Jane is pausing in her attacks, Bella surrounds her with a shield, reflective side in. Bella tells Edward she is going to try something and she asks Edward to provoke Jane by kissing Renesmee. Edward is confused but does so. Jane goes berserk and launches a vicious attack against Renesmee. Jane’s attack is reflected and concentrated inward. Jane screams in agony. The pain is so great that she can’t think to stop her attack until she drops to the ground, brain dead. Bella grins evilly at Alec. Alec launches himself at Bella, Dominic restrains him so Alec uses his ability against Bella. Bella, again using her shield pushes Alec’s mist into the heads of Alec and Demetri; again reflecting and concentrating it inward. Both Alec and Demetri drop; brain dead. Bella snarls. Everyone is amazed at what Bella just did. She killed the three most powerful Volturi Guard in seconds. The Volturi are truly afraid of her. Bella tells Edward,
“four down”. Edward asks “Four?” Bella says Aro doesn’t know it yet but I’m shielding him from Renata’s power; he is vulnerable to physical attack.

Bella asks which one is Chelsea. Chelsea runs away. Edward says that was her. Volturi Guard unity start to fragment without Chelsea. Alice and Amazons shows up. Before Aro can lose any more people he orders the attack to acquire Alice. Only half the guard attack and are swiftly killed. Aro and Casius are killed. Carlisle and Marcus stop the fight. Remaining Volturi and witnesses are stunned at the turn of events. In order to have order in the vampire world, remaining guard and Romanians agree to enforce the law.

When Bella goes to hug the vacating vampires they shy away, afraid of her. Bella is hurt that they think she will hurt them.

Additional Quick Thoughts:

Leah sees Nahuel and screams because she hates vampires and she knows what just happened to herself. Leah runs and jumps at Nahuel. She phases in midflight and kisses Nahuel. She has imprinted on him. Nahuel does not stop the kiss because he has also imprinted on Leah. Edward tells Bella what just happened. Edward and Carlisle wonder about Nahuel sisters, would they imprint on the werewolves? It would be a better indication of what may happen with Jacob and Renesmee, can they have healthy children?

At end of movie when Bella refuses Edward’s kiss, she tells him she wants to try something, Edward thinking of the fight pauses; concerned for his safety. Bella lightly punches him in the stomach telling him not to be such a big baby. Bella concentrates and forces her shield away from herself.

Wow, I love your versions better than the original. BD was boring, I actually wanted some sort of fight scene. You have some interesting concepts..But you know they ( movie studio, Melissa Rosenberg, etc...) have to keep the flow of the movie and make BD as boring as the other 3..LOL
