One of the Windows 8.1 Preview bugs is affecting screen brightness

More and more bug reports keep coming, as users deploy Windows 8.1 Preview and try out most of the new features released by Microsoft on June 26.

This time, it’s all about screen brightness, as some adopters complain that the screen is extremely difficult to read in some cases.

Screen brightness is terribly low on some devices even if it’s set to 100 percent, some explain.

“Screen brightness is at 100% but it is as though it is using the previous battery mode rather than plugged in mode. It is making the screen quite difficult to read. Using the inbuilt tools to alter the colour properties kind of helps but it destroys the colours when you increase colour brightness. I have hard rebooted the Elite tab several times with no joy,” one user reports.

A new batch of updates for Windows 8.1 Preview is likely to be released sometime soon, so expect more fixes to address these bugs before the OS updates hit RTM in August.
