The “Scream” franchise is widely regarded as the movies which revitalized the slasher genre back in the ‘90s. In the process, they also managed to create a series of memorable cinematic moments and characters, not to mention smash at the box office.

So, it shouldn't really come as a surprise that MTV plans to bring them back to audiences, but this time on the small screen. Entertainmentwise reports that the network has already been ordered 10 episodes from what is going to be an adaptation of the 1996 film. The premiere is going to be on October 2015.

MTV thinks that the series is going to appeal to teenagers since the action is set in a high school and will follow a group of students that haven't yet been slaughtered: a shy yet popular girl named Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), a cruel socialite named Brooke (Carlson Young), a computer nerd named Noah (John Karna), an artsy loner named Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), a jock named Will (Connor Weil), and the mysterious new kid named Kieran (Amadeus Serafini).

Many have seen this new series as a replacement for “Teen Wolf,” the only supernatural drama on the network, but the truth is that Scream relies heavily on its predecessor's success in order to pave the way for its audiences.
