Reports of schoolgirls getting pregnant continue to pour in, as a new one claims that a 13-year-old girl from Dumfriesshire, Scotland has fallen pregnant by her under-age boyfriend.

According to the Scottish Daily Record, the teenager, whose identity was not revealed for legal reasons, is still attending classes at her local secondary school, but plans to keep the baby and raise it together with her family, who are very supportive.

The same source says that the father of the unborn child is reportedly an 11-year-old boy. For the moment, it is not known how far advanced the teen girl’s pregnancy is, and her parents declined to comment when reporters approached them last night.

The youngster would become Scotland’s second-youngest mother. The youngest mum in the country is Tressa Middleton, from Bathgate, West Lothian, who fell pregnant when she was just 11 years old and gave birth in June 2006.

Tressa gave up her child when the baby was two, because she got into a deep depression and became involved with drugs. She later revealed that the baby was the result of a rape.

Another story about teenage parents came out only last month, when we found out that a 12-year-old girl and her boyfriend, aged 13, welcomed a baby daughter, thus becoming Britain's youngest parents.

Officials figures show that Scotland has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in Western Europe, although it is declining, and NHS Dumfries and Galloway said that they were striving to reduce the number of under-age mothers.
