Kevin Hannaway says he was cycling alongside the van

This stunt has been done before, but it seems that it never gets old. The hilarious video embedded at the end of this article shows a Scottish man “flying” Superman-style besides a car window while the vehicle runs at high speed.

Kevin Hannaway, the workman who stars in the video, has been dubbed the Clark Kent of Cambuslang after his stunt went viral on the Internet.

The clip shows Hannaway and some friends having fun with the now classic Superman gag, as the former is “flying” alongside his van on a country road near Cambuslang with oncoming cars.

The van driver bursts into laughter when Kevin pops up near the car and asks, “Where’s the nearest shop?”

Well, given that the gag is not new, we all know that this Superman of Scotland is not actually flying, but his peculiar position with one arm stretched out in front of him gives the impression that he has flown to catch up with the car.

“Driving along this wee road here, as you can see. Quite fast. We’ve finished our shift. We’re quite happy. It’s a wee Friday,” the driver can be heard saying in the clip.

According to the Daily Mirror, the driver was going at 55mph (89 km/h), so the stunt was pretty dangerous considering that they were on a road with upcoming traffic. That's why Kevin, a 24-year-old father of one, advised other Superman wannabes not to copy his acrobatic trick.

“I did look for oncoming cars. But I would tell others that see the video to not do it. They should leave it to the real Clark Kent,” he says.

When asked how he pulled off the stunt, Kevin claimed he was cycling alongside the van. But even with real Superman super-powers, it would have been difficult to ride a bike at that speed with one arm stretched out forward and one behind.

“The van wasn’t actually going that fast. It was just said in the video that it was. I was cycling along next to the van. I get these strange ideas every day,” he explains.

In the previous stunts of this kind, it was obvious that the daredevils were partly perched inside the car as they reached one hand forward. They carefully stretched out the back window and inched alongside the front passenger's seat, making it look like they were flying next to the speeding vehicle.
