Rocker Scott Stapp, who rose to fame in the ‘90s as the frontman of the multi-platinum and diamond selling band Creed, is profoundly unwell. Earlier this week, Stapp posted a video to his Facebook, making a series of very shocking allegations, including that he was penniless, homeless, starving and under attack from people he once considered friends.

Stapp has struggled with drug addiction before, but he maintained in the video that he was clean and sober – and had been so for a very long time. This was supposed to give more weight to his claims that he had been wronged by more than one party, including the aforementioned faux friends and the IRS.

A police report obtained by TMZ, filed days before Stapp made the aforementioned video, reveals that he was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold after he went missing from his home.

A messy divorce

Stapp is now the in the middle of a divorce: Jaclyn Stapp filed the papers last month, claiming she had come to live in fear with him because of his drug addiction getting completely out of control. As per her own words, he had being doing a dangerous combination of drugs and would often threaten her and the kids, or say that he would harm himself.

He was paranoid and delusional, and had resisted all her attempts to get him back to rehab, she claimed. With no solution to his drug addiction in sight, she wanted out of the marriage so at least she could feel safe again.

In the 15-minute vid Stapp posted, which is no longer available online, he encouraged his fans not to believe the rumors making the rounds about him, because he was still on track with his sobriety. The rumors were fake but spread deliberately by someone who was trying to ruin his reputation, after having stolen most of his money from his accounts.

Stapp found on the side of the road, incoherent, intoxicated, rambling

As it turns out, Stapp wasn’t being honest when he claimed he was clean and sober, as the police report filed with the Madison County Florida Sheriff’s Department confirms. On November 13, shortly before he made the video, he was arrested and placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold for 72 hours, after being found on the side of the road, clearly intoxicated, incoherent and rambling about how “someone was trying to poison him.”

He had been missing from his home for a while when he was found. Contacted by the police, Stapp’s wife went on the record saying that he was on a drug binge, “fueled by steroids, weed, cocaine, PCP, Special K, Crystal meth, and various Rx drugs.”

He had been displaying violent, paranoid behavior for a while, even calling his son’s school to warn of an incoming ISIS attack on the boy. He had also been threatening to kill his wife, his AA sponsor and everyone else who would dare contradict him when he said someone was out to get him – and he had the guns to do it, he would boast.

Stapp had also confided in his wife that he was hearing voices and seeing visions of people on fire.

Stapp maintains he’s being viciously slandered

The Facebook video Stapp made has been deleted once it went viral and, contrary to what he was trying to argue in it (i.e. that he was clean), was held to prove the exact contrary. In its stead, Stapp posted another statement, in which he says he should have thought things through before going public with it.

However, he’s not apologizing and he’s not taking anything back from what he said: he just wishes he’d have gone differently about his plight, because he understands posting the video did more harm than good to his “cause.”

Stapp still believes he’s being made into a target by the government and the people closest to him, and he probably still wants fans to provide him with legal representation, which was one of the things he asked for in the video. The only thing that’s changed is that he regrets making the video.

“This is a test of faith, and I will NEVER give up or lose my faith. No matter what. This will be my last statement until after justice is served. Love to you all my friends,” Stapp says.

Just to give you an idea of how disturbing the video was, you can find an unofficial version of it below. It might be pulled soon, if Stapp is really determined to have it off the Internet.
