Scotland's Highland Wildlife Park is now home to a days-old Przewalski's horse. The foal was born at this animal sanctuary about a week and a half ago, on September 2.

Presently, he is exploring the park's main reserve, and does not seem to mind having visitors stare at him. His mother, 12-year-old Yeda, is always by his side.

According to Zoo Borns, this foal is the first of its kind to have been born at the Highland Wildlife Park over the past five years.

Hence the fact that he is getting loads of attention both from the rest of the herd and from park employees.

Back in the 1960s, Przewalski's horses were declared extinct in the wild. Since then, some 250 have been released in Mongolia's Hustai National Park.

What's more, about 1,500 are presently living in captivity. Conservationists are confident that, thanks to breeding programs, the overall headcount for this species will continue to increase.
